Divorce
The breakdown of marriage is regretfully a part of everyday life. Where a marriage has regretfully broken down in those circumstances when applying for divorce there are a number of reasons that can be used as evidence that the marriage had "broken down irretrievably", these are:
- An allegation of adultery
- Unreasonable behaviour
- Two years separation with consent
- Two years desertion
- Five years separation
We have several lawyers specialising in divorce and separation who can help you make the process as painless as possible.
We are members of the Resolution organisation where it is accepted as good practice that matters should be resolved with as little conflict as possible.
Judicial Separation and Nullity
By choice someone can be judicially separated instead without the final decree of divorce and in certain circumstances a marriage can be declared a nullity.
Costs and Timescale
If the divorce is undefended without any other issues the cost would be £650 plus VAT plus Court fees of £385.
The timescale depends on the co-operation or otherwise of the other party but should be 6-12 months.
If the other party's whereabouts are unknown an application will need to be made to the Court which will delay matters.
